Customizing and Understanding Your App Metrics

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to tailor your app metrics dashboard to display the most relevant data for your needs.

Customizing Your Dashboard View

To begin customizing your dashboard, navigate to the control panel and click on the "Dashboard" button, identifiable by an icon with four small squares. This will take you to the app metrics view, which displays a variety of default metrics.

Located at the top of this page is a "Customize" button. Clicking this allows you to select or deselect any of the currently tracked metrics, giving you control over which data is visible on your dashboard.

Adding New Metrics

You can enhance your dashboard by adding new metrics. After clicking "Customize," select "Add Metric" to reveal three distinct options:

  • Plug-in Analytics: This option allows you to track analytics for any specific feature within the app. For instance, if you want to monitor how many users visit a particular webpage, you can add that as a metric.

  • Action Item: Action items are specific, user-initiated buttons. To track how many times a particular action is performed, such as clicking a "Home" button from a subpage, you first need to enable analytics tracking within that feature's settings. Once enabled, you can then add it to your dashboard for clear visibility.

  • User Tag: This metric is useful for tracking users with specific tags. For example, you can track the number of users who have been assigned a "homepage" tag.

Exporting and Filtering Data

To the left of the "Customize" button, you'll find an "Export" option. Clicking this will download a CSV file containing all the metrics currently displayed on your dashboard. By default, this export will cover the last 30 days of data.

For more specific timeframes, look for a button with a slider icon to the left of the app metrics section. This allows you to apply a custom date range and view historical data from a period of your choosing.
