This guide will explain how to send a targeted push notification to a single user. This is useful for sending private messages, reminders, or any other information intended for one individual. You can send a one-time message or recurring.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Navigate to Push Notifications:
-
From your app's control panel, locate and click on the Push Notifications icon (a bell) in the menu on the left-hand side.
-
Click the New Push Notification button.
-
-
Select Notification Type:
-
You can choose the type of notification you want to send:
-
Standard: A customizable, one-time notification.
-
Automatic: Sends updates based on an RSS feed.
-
Recurring: Sends the same notification to users on a schedule.
-
-
For this example, we will select Standard.
-
-
Target a Specific User:
-
In the Audience section, choose Custom Segment.
-
Click the Add Segment button that appears directly below.
-
Use the search bar to find the specific user you want to send the notification to.
-
Click on the user's name when they appear in the search results.
-
Click the Create Segment button at the bottom right to confirm your selection.
-
-
Compose the Notification Message:
-
Title: Enter the title for your notification. This is the bold text the user will see.
-
Message: Write the body of your message. This text will appear below the title on the user's device.
-
In-App Message (Optional): You can also create a different, more detailed message that the user will see when they open the app or tap on the notification.
-
-
Add an Action (Optional):
-
You can make the notification interactive by adding an action.
-
This allows you to link the notification to a specific feature within the app, such as a survey, calendar event, or a particular page. When the user opens the notification, they will be taken directly to the linked content.
-
After composing your message and adding any desired actions, you can send the notification.
