How to Upload a PDF into the App

This guide will walk you through the process of uploading a PDF to the app.

1. Prepare Your PDF for Uploading

The app needs a public, shareable link to access your PDF. This means the PDF must be hosted online.

  • If your file is a Google Doc:

    1. Download the Google Doc as a PDF file.

    2. Re-upload the downloaded PDF to your Google Drive.

    3. Set the sharing privacy to "anyone with the link."

    4. Copy the shareable link.

  • If you have a PDF in your Google Drive:

    1. Right-click on the PDF file.

    2. Select "Share."

    3. Change the access to "anyone with the link." This will only grant access to the specific PDF, not your entire Drive.

    4. Copy the link.

  • If the PDF is on your computer:

    1. Upload the PDF to Google Drive.

    2. Make the file public by setting the sharing permissions to "anyone with the link."

    3. Copy the shareable link.

2. Add the PDF to the App

Once you have your shareable link, you need to add it to the app through the control panel.

  1. Navigate to your app's control panel.

  2. Click on the Builder icon on the left side.

  3. Select Add plug-in.

  4. Search for "PDF viewer" and click Add plug-in.

  5. Give the feature a title and click the Add button.

  6. In the control panel, you will see an option labeled "URL to your PDF."

  7. Click Replace, paste your shareable link, and click Validate.

  8. Position the PDF viewer where you want it within the app.

3. Publish Your Changes

After adding the PDF link and validating it, you must publish the app for the changes to take effect.

Troubleshooting

  • If the PDF doesn't appear in the control panel emulator: Don't worry. Sometimes the PDF will not display in the emulator. Publish the app and test it on your device.

  • If the PDF still doesn't work after publishing:

    • Double-check that your share link is correct and that the permissions are set to "anyone with the link."

    • Ensure the link leads directly to a PDF file.
