Step by step instructions on how to properly obtain your iCal Link for your calendar
To share your Google Calendar with others using an iCal link, you first need to make your calendar public. This allows other applications to access and display your calendar information.Making Your Calendar Public
**Important:** You can only change the sharing settings for your Google Calendars from a computer, not the mobile app.
1. Open Google Calendar on your computer.
2. On the left side of the screen, under "My calendars," find the calendar you want to share.
3. Hover over the calendar and click the three vertical dots that appear.
4. From the menu, select "Settings and sharing."
5. Under "Access permissions for events," check the box next to "Make available to public."
6. A warning message will appear to confirm that making your calendar public will make all events visible to the world, including through Google search. Click "OK" to proceed.
7. You can then choose what level of detail to share. "See all event details" will make everything on your calendar visible. If you only want to show when you are busy, you can select "See only free/busy (hide details)."
### Obtaining the iCal Link
Once your calendar is public, you can get the iCal link.
1. In the same "Settings and sharing" menu, scroll down to the "Integrate calendar" section.
2. You will find a "Public address in iCal format." This is the link you need.
3. Copy this link. This is the iCal link you can use to share your calendar with other applications.
It's important to use the "Public address in iCal format" and not the "Public URL to this calendar," as the latter is for viewing the calendar in a web browser. The iCal format is specifically for syncing your calendar with other applications.
There is also a "Secret address in iCal format." This link will always show full event details, regardless of your public sharing settings. You should not share this link with others unless you want them to see all your event details.
